Jim and LA DONNA BECK Davis
The 45-Year Reunion Committee (the Committee) invited as our special guests classmate La Donna (Beck) and St. James Davis (also pictured from the 20th Reunion). Many people by now have heard about the unfortunate plight of this wonderful couple. Perhaps many of you, as myself, were not aware that they were our own LPHS alumni until it was pointed out.
Often when sensational events occur, they are the focus of much media attention. As other events continue to evolve on a daily basis, individual events are forgotten by all but those directly involved or closely associated with them. All too frequently, these individuals suffer catastrophic, life-altering consequences that remain for months, years, or even a lifetime. This is the case of the Davises.
We are interested in the significant events in the lives of all of our classmates. One of the objectives identified by the Committee for this Newsletter is to share significant events and happenings in the lives of our classmates with other classmates with permission. This article is published with the consent of and on behalf of St. James Davis.
The continuous challenging events unfolding in the lives of La Donna and Jim would require a number of tomes to relate. For that reason, we have included links to sources that provide detailed information. Briefly stated, the ordeal began on March 3, 2005, when La Donna and Jim were attacked by two escaped chimpanzees at an animal sanctuary. St. James heroically protected his wife from serious physical harm and withstood the brunt of the attack himself, resulting in severe injuries, for which he has undergone dozens of surgeries, including reconstructive surgeries, and has dozens more to undergo. The financial burden has been and remains horrendous.

GEORGIA C. WEST Shrewsbury
The years singing in Glee Club and the Senior Grad Night at Disneyland are highlights of Georgia’s years at LPHS, not to mention the many friends she made. A few short months following graduation found Georgia walking down the aisle to join in holy matrimony with Joseph Shrewsbury.
The couple relocated to Salem, Oregon in 1970, where she graduated from beauty college in 1980. Her obvious love for helping people was fulfilled in providing home care for ten years while freelancing as a beautician, which has been her occupation for about twenty years. Her hobbies include sewing scrap booking, gardening, and photography.
